Uh oh! Tony Romo just injured his hamstring here in the second half against Minnesota. That’s not good. He got back in the game, but those hammy injuries linger! I should know. I’m still nursing mine and now the soreness has traveled down to my knee. Don’t expect to see any great scrambles from Romo… like the one in the Rams game. This injury will cost him a step or two. Here’s hoping the two weeks off will help it heal.

Had a great time today at “The Smoke Show”… our chance to be a Nascar driver with special instruction from Tony Stewart. What a day! It started at Texas Motor Speedway in our own drivers’ lockerroom. In our lockers… a personalized fire suit and cap. Then we received instruction from Team Texas High Performance Driving School.
Then the fun began! It started with the driver’s introductions, complete with fans screaming and holding signs! Each media participant had a designated fan holding a sign that was just for us. Mine read: “Who needs Montoya (Juan Pablo), we have Castillo!” Cool!
Then it ws time to do some driving!!! Tim was my in-car instructor and was great. He assured me everything would be fine. He helped calm my nerves. Once we started, it took me a while to feel comfortable to punch on the gas… finally, I let loose a bit. What a thrill!!! This gave me a great appreciation to what drivers really do. We drove around 10 laps, but it felt like forever!!! Can you imagine going around and around for hundreds of laps in just a few hours!!! I averaged 126 miles per hour.
Then Tony Stewart gave us lessons on how to appropriately climb a fence!!! Of course, that’s his customary victory celebration. Then, we were able to ride in the passenger seat while Tony showed us how it really is done.
After that, we went to Victory Lane where we thanked our sponsors and shot the winner’s guns in the air… all while wearing a cowboy hat… all in TMS tradition! Thanks to Eddie Gossage and the crew at TMS for allowing us to get a better understanding of life as a Nascar driver. It’s been a day I won’t soon forget. I’m tired. I need a nap now!
You can me and Newy Scruggs with Tony at TMS right here on this site. Check out our story on the sports page. You can also view a slideshow of our day at the track.

The folks in Buffalo must hate everything Dallas. If they didn’t already, they have to after last night. The Cowboys just ripped the hearts out of Buffalo fans again!!! Remember the tail kicking the Cowboys gave the Bills back in the 90s? Rest assured the people of Buffalo haven’t forgotten.
Buffalo fans still say they were cheated in the Stars Stanley Cup win back in 1999… another instance where a Dallas team beat a Buffalo team on a grand stage in dramatic fashion. Brett Hull is still a god around these parts!!!
And then there was last night. Wow!!! The Bills and their fans were jacked up. It looked like they would pull off the monumental upset on Monday Night Football… instead Nick Folk kicked one through the uprights and kicked Buffalo fans in the backside again. One word of advice. If you ever visit Buffalo… under any circumstances… don’t wear anything Cowboys or Stars! You might not make it back home!
COWBOYS LINEBACKER LAUNCHES FOUNDATION
DURING BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH
Bradie James aims to tackle Breast Cancer through the launch of “Foundation56”
Irving, Texas – Today, Cowboys Linebacker, Bradie James (#56) announced the launch of his personal foundation, Foundation56.
“The mission of Foundation56 is to support and devote resources to changing and saving communities and lives,” said James. “I was inspired to establish Foundation56, after losing my mother to breast cancer in February 2002. My life was changed by this experience. It fuels my drive to give and to do for others. My passion runs deep. Foundation56 is my way of truly making a difference and that difference is saving lives.”
Through its signature programs, Soul Survivors, a program designed to create breast cancer awareness, promote early detection and provide screening opportunities; and The James Gang, youth-centered initiatives that encourage positive youth development, Foundation56 aims to make a difference.
“Foundation56 is about creating more and better opportunities for healthy, safe and positive living by tackling issues that impact women, youth, families and communities,” said foundation Executive Director, Tia Edwards. “Resources and support will extend beyond the Baton Rouge area and will impact Bradie’s hometown Monroe, Louisiana and the Dallas metropolitan area. Our goal is not to duplicate existing services but to provide assistance by partnering with established organizations and agencies to fill the gaps that exist.”
Foundation56 begins its journey to making a difference and helping to save lives this month with the introduction of Soul Survivors in Baton Rouge, Louisiana where Bradie played college football. Through videotaped messages shown during home football games for both Baton Rouge’s college teams, Southern University and LSU, Bradie hopes to encourage men – husbands, fathers, brothers and other men to save our women from breast cancer through early detection and screening.
“It’s no coincidence that I’ve chosen October- Breast Cancer Awareness Month – as the month to launch my foundation and my breast cancer awareness program, Soul Survivors, said James. “I want to use my voice to send a message of hope, strength and life. I want to send a message that breast cancer doesn’t just affect women, it affects the entire family. And, what better place for this message to be heard than during Saturday night college football in Baton Rouge.”
The Board of Directors for Foundation56 includes: Dr. Jennie M. Bennett – Education Consultant, Breast Cancer Survivor; Jennette Conway – Educator, Minnie Ruffin Elementary School (Monroe, LA); Bradford C. Edwards – Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.; Deborah Heroman – Assistant Professor, College of Education, Louisiana State University; James Thomas “Tommy” Moffitt – Director of Strength and Conditioning, Louisiana State University; Emily Robbins – Director of Community Relations, Dallas Cowboys Football Club; Theta M. Williams – Early Childhood Specialist; and Jennette Conway – Teacher, Minnie Ruffin Elementary School (Monroe, LA).

After watching my Longhorns get KO’d by K-State, I’m afraid this could be a 3 or 4 loss season in Austin. The Horns got beat up on the line of scrimmage. I lost count of the tipped passes. Several of those tipped passes ended up as interceptions. Colt McCoy was running for his life most of the game. He almost got decapitated a few times!!! Texas has problems on its offensive line and they have to fix them fast. A physical OU team is next in Dallas… I’m afraid that could be a second straight loss.
“Celebrate good times come on!!!” That was Wade Phillips singing as he was strolling off the Texas Stadium turf after another Cowboys win. With the Kool and the Gang song, “Celebration,” blaring in the background, Phillips was singing the tune for a bit! I don’t know about you, but I get a kick out of Wade’s demeanor. He always has that sly, easy-going smirk. I love it when he says something funny and he seems really amused with himself. Hilarious!
